For most of my adult life, I’ve had a “perfect” body, but not one that corresponds to my gender. Being told all my life that my body is “perfect and feminine” has fucked me up. It exacerbated my eating disorder. It made me feel self-conscious and suspicious of all positive attention I got. As a compliment, it felt uncanny…
